Pets in the City   Service Benefits
My goal is to provide peace of mind to the responsible pet owner by offering the safety, love and
attention you yourself give them.  Our pets are very special to us and are considered family
members.  In our absence, they deserve the best caregivers we can find in their own secure
environment.  I want you to feel completely at ease when you use my services.  If you need to be
away for the day or for an extended business trip or vacation, if your pets get bored and lonely at
home, or become destructive in your absence, then my service is for you.

Being a resident of the downtown area where I concentrate my business, I can provide
flexibility and reliability on an ongoing and as-needed basis for clients who live nearby.

About the Owner
My name is Barbara Howard and I am the owner of "Pets in the City."  I have been a resident of
inner Northwest Portland for over thirty years and have been a full-time professional pet sitter for
the past four years.  I have also been an Oregon Humane Society volunteer and foster parent and
have been involved in their positive reinforcement training programs working with dogs that need a
little help with their manners in order to get adopted more quickly.  I practice basic positive
reinforcement training with all my dog walks and pet visitations.

I am member of the Oregon Pet Sitters Association and Pet Sitters International.  I'm fully insured
and bonded and certified in Pet First Aid by the American Red Cross.

Initial Consultation
If you are interested in using my service I will arrange a time to meet with you and your pets. During
this initial visit I can gather important information about how to best care for your pets and home. It
is very important to me that you feel comfortable leaving your pets and home in the hands of a
qualified professional.
I  will treat your home with the respect and privacy that I myself
would expect of anyone providing a service in my home.

Daily Dog Walks/Pet Care Visits *      $18/ 30-min    $22/hr.
As an alternative to boarding your kitty or dog at the kennel, I will provide care through one or
multiple daily visits to your home.  During these visits I will change and clean the water bowl, provide
fresh food, tend to litter boxes, clean up any messes, administer medication if necessary, and take
your dog for walks in the neighborhood. Your pet receives play, exercise and personal attention
each visit.

To maintain an occupied appearance of your home if you will be away for several days, my service
includes bringing in mail and newspapers, watering indoor plants, taking out the garbage, turning
lights on and off, etc.

* $5 Holiday Surcharge on Christmas Day, New Years Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor
Day, Thanksgiving Day.

Overnight Pet/House Sitting    $55/night
If you like the combination of a house sitter and pet sitter rolled into one, this is for you.  I will ensure
that all of your pets needs are met and that your pets have the comfort of knowing someone is at
your home all night long.  Includes overnight care for unlimited pets in your home.  Time is normally
from supper time until mid-morning morning, at least 12 hours.

The fee includes both an evening and morning dog walk, and usually another short outing just
before bedtime.  Additional time with your pets can be negotiated at the time of the initial
consultation.  For example,  30 minute midday dog walks or 15 minute "quick stops" can be an
option to allow your dog to get out and about during the middle of the day when I am also attending
to other clients.

For your peace of mind I will be happy to provide cell phone or email updates on your
's activities and well-being.  Also feel free to contact me at any time.

I like to keep the billing process as simple as possible for both your convenience and mine.  For
long-term service such as regular weekly dog walks I provide just one invoice at the end of each

For business/vacation pet sitting of one week or less I will provide an invoice at the end of that
week.  For longer trips I ask for half payment in advance and will invoice at the end of the service
Full payment  in advance of any service is also welcome.

Key  Keeping
Allowing me to retain a copy of the key to your home ensures you are able to make
reservations over the phone or by email whenever you require my services.  This is
particularly useful when you have to work late unexpectedly or when you need to leave
town on short notice.
